Eligibility Criteria for CERC Legal Career

You must be an officer serving in the Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), or an Autonomous Body.

Joint Chief (Legal): You need a Degree in Law. Preference goes to those with a specialization in Regulation. You must hold an analogous post on a regular basis or have three years of service in Level 12. Alternatively, eight years in Level 11 is acceptable. Your experience should involve handling judicial or quasi-judicial legal matters, including petitions and case law listing.

Deputy Chief (Legal): A Degree in Law is mandatory. A Master's Degree or specialization in Regulations is preferred. Candidates must hold an analogous post or have three years of service in Level 11. Officers with seven years of combined service in Level 10 are also eligible.

Assistant Chief (Legal) & Bench Officer: A Law Degree is the baseline requirement. You should hold an analogous post or have four years of service in Level 10. If you have five years in Level 8 or six years in Level 7, you can still apply. Experience in court proceedings and legal drafting is a must.
